The new Weston College Academy building in Weston-super-Mare’s Junction 21 Enterprise Area has been completed on schedule.
BAM Construction Ltd has completed work on the £12million, three-storey campus, which will become home to North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College (NSETC) in September.
The 6,400sqm building includes a purpose-built science floor, complete with super-labs and a terrace where students can conduct outdoor experiments. It also has technology and enterprise spaces, an all-weather sports pitch, a canteen, a library and a lecture theatre.
NSETC is a specialist science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) college which is part of the Inspirational Futures Trust, a multi-academy trust sponsored by the Weston College Group.
The school combines excellent teaching with superb facilities and is creating a talent pool which will directly meet employers’ needs.
The Weston College Academy campus, in the heart of Weston’s Junction 21 Enterprise Area, can accommodate 700 students and means NSETC will be well-placed to continue building links with both local and national businesses.
Dr Paul Phillips OBE, Principal and Chief Executive of the Weston College Group, said: “Weston College Academy will offer a cutting-edge educational experience for many students across the Weston College Group from September, and it is fantastic to see this state-of-the-art facility has been completed to schedule.
“This campus is the first of its kind to be built within an Enterprise Zone and we are very much looking forward to seeing it officially open in September, ready to prepare some of the brightest young people in the South West for 21st century working.”
